This year the Post has enacted two policies that should help us get new members so that we can hit our Department of Illinois 100% goal and reverse our recent losses the past few years. First, for any NEW member (not renewals, transfers, or those who have let their dues lapse) that lives within Woodford County, the Post will pay their dues for the first year of their membership. Now is the time to search for these new comrades. Lets get them into the Post so we have the rest of the fiscal year to meet with them, get them to Legion meetings, get them involved in Post activities, etc. before their dues come up again.
Secondly, the Post will pay the yearly dues of ANY current member who is on full time active military service and who has a Roanoke permanent address (61561) while serving. (This does not apply to current PUFL members – sorry to say we can’t make this retroactive – or for those who have moved out of the area). The least the Post can do to support our hometown active-duty soldiers is to pay their dues during their service time. Both of these policies have been approved by the membership.
So, can you please help your Post? If you know of ANY person that qualifies as a NEW member in Woodford County, will you please bring them to a meeting or contact any officer of Post 463 with the details? We will take it from there and make sure you get credit if the person becomes a member.
And, finally, if a new member does not qualify under either of the above and you know them personally, why not consider a Christmas Gift of paying their first year's dues - especially if it is a family member or relative? Currently we need three new members and all fourteen of the late paying current members to renew in order to hit our Department of Illinois goal of 166. Now is the time to concentrate on this important Legion goal!!!
